Born in Southampton, New York (USA) and raised in Westhampton Beach, New York. Jermain is the youngest of three children. During his formative years Jermain excelled in athletics such as baseball, track and field, and basketball. He received a full basketball scholarship to New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) where he obtained his bachelors degree in Communications Arts (TV and Film) and his masters degree in Public Relations. During his time in college Jermain was bitten by the acting bug and produced, acted and directed several small student films. Shortly after moving to New York City he studied acting at the Gotham City Improv, where soon after graduating he and fellow former classmates created the improvisational troupe called "Wet Pajamas" which performs in New York City. In addition to his studies of Improv Jermain studied acting at Sedgwick -Russell Acting Studio where his teachers were Robert Sedgwick and Catherine Russell.

-   Began acting as an improvisational actor at Gotham City Improv in New York City as member of the improvisational troupe named "Wet Pajamas".

-   In 1998 his high school basketball team (Westhampton Beach) won the New York State Class B Championship with an undefeated record of 28-0. Jermain was named New York State Class B player of the year.

-   First professional modeling job was with Ford Models in New York City.
