Full Plot
A huge tornado is blowing down on the Esperanza. The wind is so strong that the crew have to bind themselves down. Mendoza hands the wheel to Perez and goes below to look for Esteban and Zia who are still prisoners in the hold. Gomez orders Gaspard to fetch Zia in order to hand her over safe to Pizarro, but Sancho stops him from passing. Afraid that they will go down with the ship, Gomes and his men flee the Esperanza and abandon Esteban and his friends. Meanwhile Mendoza has freed the children. Together they wade and swim up to the deck through the water which is flooding into the ship. Disaster is upon them as the ship breaks apart. But Esteban begs the sun to calm the storm. As the tempest abates, Zia is somewhat reassured and confides to Esteban that she is the daughter of the High Priest of Chimon, a country in the hinterland of the New Continent. Esteban promises to keep her secret. In spite of the calm seas, Mendoza fears that the ship will not stay afloat much longer and suggests that they build a raft. Discouraged by their misfortune, our friends deliberate upon their fate, cast off without ship or victuals. All of a sudden they spy a seagull flying above, an indication that land is not far off. Sure enough, after a few hours, an island can be seen on the horizon. Anonymous Plot not foundMusic Composers
