Full Plot

The year is 2010. Teenager Alan Tracy, sent off to a distant boarding school, is the youngest of the sons of Jeff Tracy, a retired American astronaut. Jeff, a widower, has formed International Rescue, and raised his sons to act as a secret, volunteer organization which uses highly advanced technology to save lives worldwide. Jeff and his older sons John, Virgil, Scott, and Gordon, who like Alan were named after the Mercury Seven astronauts are joined in this effort by Lady Penelope and her butler/chauffeur Parker. Their futuristic hardware is largely developed by a genius scientist known as Brains, who lives at the International Rescue base on Tracy Island, somewhere in the Pacific. Anthony Pereyra {} Having narrowly averted a major disaster on an oil rig, the Thunderbirds have just returned home to their secret base when TB5, their space based station, is critically damaged in a suspected meteor strike. Unbeknown to them, the attack on TB5 is a deliberate ploy by international master criminal Aristotle Spode to get them off the island. He takes over the island and forces Brains into submission, using the power of his mind. But Spode has overlooked one key factor: Alan, Fermat and Tin Tin are still on the island. The Hood: [controlling Brains telepathically] Like a puppet on a string! The Hood: Who will rescue the rescuers? [last lines] Jeff Tracy: Thunderbirds are go! Virgil Tracy: Haven't you got homework to do or something Alan Tracy: Keep backing up... I've got a plan. Alan Tracy: [Alan pulls out a rock catapult, aims it at The Hood and misses] Tintin: That's your plan? The Hood: It's not me you're angry at, Alan. Alan Tracy: It's not you I'm aiming at. Alan Tracy: [He shoots again hitting the console behind the Hood. The floor beneath Alan, TinTin and Fermat collapses] Alan Tracy, Tintin, Fermat: Ahhhhhh The Hood: Get Them! Lady Penelope: And they should do something about that hideous hammock. Alan Tracy: So, do you still think that science can explain everything? Fermat: Not girls. Tintin: [after Fermat and Alan discovers Tintin watching them halfnaked] You are worse than two girls! Fermat: Just because I s.s.stutter, doesn't mean that I'm wrong. If we're a team, we should make decisions as a team! Fermat: [Alan wants to use the Thunderizer to escape] But Alan, this equipment is only to be used in case of an emergency! [Tintin and Alan look at him] Fermat: I guess this qualifies! Tintin: [unhappy] Alan's back... Tintin: [faking a smile] Oo Alan's back... [changing the subject] hey dad! Alan Tracy: AAAAHHHHHH! Tintin: gee Alan... I never figured you for a crybaby Alan Tracy: I'm gonna kill you Fermat: What did he say? Tintin: I think it some sort of apology... Lady Penelope: Isn't life fun sometimes? Parker: Rib ticklin', M'Lady. Lady Penelope: Oh, and England won the footbal last night Parker: YES! EN-GER-LAND! Alan Tracy: Hey, Dad. That stuff the Hood said, about you leaving him to die. He was lying, right? Jeff Tracy: No. See, you can't save everyone, Alan. It doesn't matter how hard you try or how brave you are. It doesn't even matter if it's someone you love, someone you'd give your life in a second to save. You just can't save everyone. Alan Tracy: What was Mom like? Jeff Tracy: She was a lot like you. Lady Penelope: [arriving at Tracy Island after they send the emergency signal] This doesn't look good, Parker. Parker: No, Milady. Lady Penelope: [points with her pink umbrella to a potted plant on a nearby table] That Bougainvillea is absolutely parched! [points behind her to an old wooden hammock] And someone should do something about that *hideous* hammock! Parker: [after taking Lady Penelope's unbrella] Yes, milady. Lady Penelope: [after Transom hits her fingernails with a broom] Ow! [slightly annoyed] Do you know how much a manicure costs these days? Fermat: [to Alan] We make quite a team. It's hard for me to t-t-talk. It's hard for you to l-l-listen. Brains: Fu-fu-nno way. [first lines] News Anchor: From a secret island in the South Pacific, the courageous Tracy family run an organization called International Rescue. When disaster strikes anywhere in the world, they are always first on the scene. They go by the name they gave they're incredible machines. The Thunderbirds. 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - Thunderbirds are GO!

- As the young Thunderbirds prepare to launch towards The Bank of London with Lady Penelope, an insert shot shows a hand grabbing a lever. This hand is held up by strings, a quick reference to the style of animation used in the Thunderbirds television series. Also, this is in a complete reversal to the series, as all shots in the TV show were of marionettes, except when there was an extreme closeup of a hand or foot, at which point was replaced with a person's hand or foot doing the required action (pulling a switch, stepping on the gas pedal of a car, etc.)

- To promote the film, British distributors UIP took over Trafalgar Square with a 3/4-scale model of Thunderbird 3.

- The five brothers were originally named after five of the "Mercury Seven" - 'John Glenn (III)' (qv), 'Scott Carpenter (I)' (qv), 'Alan Shepard' (qv), Virgil 'Gus Grissom' (qv), and 'Gordon Cooper (I)' (qv).

- The Hood's two main assistants are named with architectural terms for vertical (Mullion) and horizontal (Transom) pieces used in the construction of doors or windows.

- The Hover Bike used by Alan to tow Tin-Tin and Fermat is modeled on the same equipment used by the Tracy brothers in episodes such
